VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE WHEN APPLYING FOR BENEFITS
Due to various reasons, amongst others, fraudulent transactions, DMV changed the procedures when applying for benefits. The policy has not been changed. The same benefits and means tests apply; just the procedures to apply have been adapted. Please ensure that you read the “VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE” under the news link above.
Please read the following information (replace), the old step 2 with the following procedures to follow:
NEW "Step 2" HOW TO REGISTER AS A MILITARY VETERAN ON THE NATIONAL DATABASE FOR MILITARY VETERANS
Send this completed application form together with the following certified annexures / documents to Riana at firstname.lastname@example.org or fax it to 086 218 0005:
Certified Veteran’s RSA Identity Document - face must be visible. (If veteran is deceased, his/her Death Certificate to be submitted).
Should your ID number have changed over the years, please submit an affidavit stating both ID numbers as belonging to you.
b. Certified Marriage Certificate / Affidavit iro Life Partner with both partners’ signatures.
c. Certified Spouse’s / Life Partner's ID and Children’s Birth Certificates/ ID Documents.
d. Certificate of Service.
e. Certified Educational Qualifications (Highest Qualification only).
f. Certified Driver License.
g. Homeowners - deed of Trust of your home - if applicable (only pages with address and names of owners).
h. Certified Proof of Residence.
i. Certified Proof of Registration with SARS and Tax Clearance Certificate of your Business if applicable.
j. Affiliated recognized Military Veterans' Organization and membership number (Please note that members of our Affiliated/ recognized Military Veterans' Organizations get preference. Please indicate your Organization and membership number.)
On receipt of the completed application form, with all the certified Annexures as specified, the next step is verification. The CMVO Office requests verification from the SANDF’s Persol system iro Basics Course done, units served, rank, mustering, criminal records according to the Military Veteran Act 2011 (No 18 of 2011), etc (This may take a while – couple of weeks).
As soon as we have your correctly completed application form, Service Certificate, all applicable certified Annexures and Persol System printouts (from the SANDF), the all-inclusive application will be submitted to the Department Military Veterans (DMV). We visit their offices once a week to submit documents. Your application will be received and checked by the Beneficiary Support Services DMV Database Team, where after it will be handed to the Director-General of DMV for final approval. When approved, after processing, your name will be captured on the National Database for Military Veterans or they will contact you if they need additional information.
Being registered on the Military Veterans’ Database does not automatically qualify a member for any benefits as members have to apply and qualify in terms of the means test in the Military Veterans’ Regulations; (Notice / Government Gazette 37355 of 2014).
